Aion 2 Beginner’s Guide

Aion 2 is the long awaited, NCSoft’s sequel MMORPG to the 2008 classic Aion, and it is a much bigger game than its trailers showed. Underneath the flight combat and the Elyos versus Asmodian war sits a deep Korean MMO progression: gear enhancement, stat line rerolling, Arcana cards, Daevanion boards, pet stats, wings, transmog stats and even more. New players do not usually struggle with combat. They struggle with knowing where to spend their materials.

This Aion 2 beginner’s guide covers everything you need for your first 100 hours: how classes work and which one to pick, what Conquest and Transcendence dungeons actually are, how gear progression is layered, which stats matter, and the specific mistakes that cost new players weeks of progress. If you are only going to read one section, make it the mistakes chapter near the end.

If you want to skip the boring grind and get right to the endgame content, our Aion 2 Boosting Services are designed to help busy gamers who want to enjoy their hobby without having to sink dozens of hours per week. You can also use the code BLOG15 at checkout for 15% off!

Aion 2 at a Glance: Release, Platforms and What’s Different for Global

Aion 2 launched in South Korea and Taiwan on 19 November 2025. The global version releases on 5 October 2026 on PC through Steam and NCSoft’s PURPLE launcher, with a five-day early access from 30 September 2026 for Founder’s Pack owners. The global service is separate from the Korean and Taiwanese ones, so characters and purchases do not carry over.

A free, two-day Launch Scale Test also ran on 17 and 18 September 2026 and pulled in over 73,000 concurrent players with no reported server crashes, which is a good sign heading into launch week. It also settled a question a lot of players had: the global roster ships with eight classes, no Brawler.

One important caveat that shapes this whole guide: the Korean version is further ahead than global will be at launch. Korea has the Chapter 1 expansion (level 50 cap, the Brawler class, extra Arcana cards and sets, additional Daevanion boards, and a few new gear pieces). Global launches with less of that. If a system is Korea-only or likely to be trimmed at launch, it’s mentioned in this guide.

A handful of other global-specific details are worth flagging up front, since they change how you’ll actually play compared to what older Korea-based guides describe:

  • Party sizes are bigger. Standard Expedition dungeons hold five players at global launch instead of Korea’s four, and the first raid tier grows from eight players to ten.

  • You start with four character slots, expandable up to eight per server. That’s the number to keep in mind if you’re on the fence about running a second character.

  • Five regional servers are confirmed at launch (NA West, NA East, South America, Central Europe and Japan), and there’s no region lock, so you can play on whichever one suits you regardless of where you live.

  • Pets get an easier launch. Pre-launch livestreams confirmed pet levels are capped at 3 for global’s first season instead of Korea’s 5, and pets can now auto-loot nearby items for you (it costs Kinah to turn on).

  • Brawler, Korea’s ninth class, is confirmed absent at global launch. NCSoft has said it’s coming in a future update but hasn’t given a date, so plan around the eight classes below.

If you’d rather skip past the early grind entirely and start closer to the fun part, our Starter Package is built for exactly that.

Elyos or Asmodian: Does Your Faction Choice Matter?

Aion 2 has two factions, the Elyos (light) and the Asmodians (dark). All classes are playable by both factions and both genders, so faction is not a power decision.

What it actually affects:

  • Where you level. Each faction has its own starting regions and story path.

  • Who you fight. Open world PvP, the Abyss and large-scale faction conflict are built around the split.

  • Who you can play with. This is the one that catches people out. Coordinate with your friends before you choose, because you can’t swap sides later.

However, some instanced content (Expedition, Transcendence and Sanctuary activities) allows mixed-faction parties. That softens the impact, but it does not remove it. If your guild is Asmodian, choose Asmodian.

Aion 2 Classes Explained

The global launch build has eight classes. Korea has a ninth, Brawler, added in the Chapter 1 update. NCSoft and the September 2026 Launch Scale Test have since confirmed Brawler will not be part of the global launch roster. It’s expected to arrive in a future update, just without a confirmed date yet, so we won’t count it here.

A quick note on naming: you will see Spiritmaster called “Elementalist” on some web sites and in some early translations, and it’s also the class’s internal name in NCSoft’s own game data. Both names refer to the exact same orb-wielding summoner class, and the official global marketing has used Spiritmaster. Similarly, Ranger occasionally appears as “Marksman” in some forums and community posts. Stick with the official names when you search for guides, or you will end up reading about the wrong class.

Templar

The dedicated tank. Shield and longsword, strong defensive cooldowns, threat control and crowd control. Templars hold the front line and are a mandatory slot in high-end group content, which means near-instant group invites. The tradeoff is slower solo clear speed while levelling. If you want to stop worrying about ever finding a party, this is the pick.

Gladiator

The bruiser and the off-tank. Greatsword, heavy AoE and sustained damage with enough durability to stand in the middle of a pull. Gladiator is widely considered one of the fastest solo levelling classes because it can pull five or six mobs at once and clear kill quests at roughly double the rate of a single-target class. It also scales well into the endgame. Pick this if you want to do good DPS and tank a little.

Assassin

Stealth, mobility and single-target burst. Assassin has one of the higher skill ceilings in the game: you need to manage positional attacks, stealth windows and cooldown timing to hit your numbers. Enormously satisfying when it works, genuinely punishing when your ping is bad or your positioning slips. Not a first-MMO class.

Ranger

Bow-based ranged physical damage with traps and utility. Ranger is the safest damage dealer for a new player. You do your damage from a distance, you are not fighting the camera, and your mistakes are rarely instantly fatal. Solid in both PvE and PvP.

Sorcerer

The classic glass cannon. Big AoE, big single-target nukes, plenty of control, very little health. Sorcerer punishes bad positioning harder than almost anything else in the game, so it is a poor first class but an excellent second one.

Spiritmaster

A ranged caster that fights through summoned spirits, with a deep debuff and crowd control toolkit including fears and silences. It plays like a turret with a pet, which some people love and some people bounce off. Worth noting that Spiritmaster’s kit does not take full advantage of positional damage stats, so its stat priorities differ from most other classes.

Cleric

The primary healer. Strong group healing, cleansing and protective buffs, with usable damage when nothing is going wrong. Healers are always in demand, and Cleric performance in Aion 2 is gated heavily by specific skill levels rather than raw gear, which means an under geared Cleric can also be invited into groups even if the item level is low.

Chanter

Hybrid support. Mantras and buffs for the group, AoE damage, and some healing. Chanter solos comfortably, is welcome in every group, and scales impressively into the endgame. It is arguably the best “I do not know what I want yet” class in the game.

Which Class Should a Beginner Choose in Aion 2?

There is no verified global launch tier list, however we explain the best Classes in this guide: Aion 2 Global Class Tier List. Class balance has already been substantially reworked once in Korea, and damage between the pure DPS classes is so close that your execution matters more than your pick.

So choose by responsibility, not by tier list:

  • You want guaranteed fast group invites: Templar or Cleric.

  • You want the smoothest solo leveling: Gladiator.

  • You want safe, forgiving damage: Ranger.

  • You want flexibility and group value without full healer pressure: Chanter.

  • You want a high skill ceiling and do not mind dying while you learn: Assassin or Sorcerer.

  • You want something mechanically unusual: Spiritmaster.

One honest observation from the Korean and Taiwanese builds: at low levels a lot of classes feel similar. The kits diverge properly later. For the first stretch, your real decision is melee versus ranged and whether you want responsibility for keeping other people alive.

Also consider your connection. Aion 2’s damage model rewards Combat Speed, and Combat Speed is directly affected by ping and frame rate. Testing on the Korean servers suggested that a 150 to 200 ping difference can cost somewhere in the region of 50 to 70 percent of your damage output. That is not a class problem, it is a physics problem, and testing across Templar, Assassin and Brawler found no major difference between classes, so don’t assume a slower-paced class protects you from bad ping. Pick a server region close to you regardless of what you plan to play. Global launches with five regions (NA West, NA East, South America, Central Europe and Japan) and no region lock, so you’re free to choose whichever sits closest to you.

Your First 45 Levels: The Levelling Route

Follow the main story. It’s the fastest and the easiest way. For a full level-by-level walkthrough of the whole route to 45, see our Aion 2 Leveling Guide; here’s the short version:

The Episode quest line is the intended progression spike. It moves you through regions in the right order, unlocks systems as you become ready for them, and keeps your item level on curve. The most common new player mistake is abandoning the story to grind mobs, which is slower and leaves you with systems still locked (I’m talking about you West MMO enjoyers :D).

That said, “follow the story” does not mean “sprint past everything.” Regional (Green or Side) quests, strongholds, sealed dungeons and exploration activities award Daevanion Crystals, Daeva tokens, Cube expansions, gear and titles, and some of them feed the Daeva gauge. Skipping all of it leaves progression holes that are annoying to backfill later. If your time is tight, this is exactly the kind of side content our World Farming category can clear out for you.

A simple loop that works:

  • Push the main story until something stops you.

  • Identify what actually stopped you. Is the boss not dying, or are you dying?

  • If the boss is not dying, improve weapon power and your weakest offensive slots. If you are dying, improve defenses and read the mechanic again.

  • Fix that one thing, then go back to the story.

At level 45 the main story also hands you your Belt and Amulet, which use their own enhancement scrolls rather than standard enhance stones. Belt scrolls come from Strongholds, Amulet scrolls come from turning in feathers.

Combat Power, Item Level and How Progression Is Actually Measured

Aion 2 tracks you with two numbers, and beginners frequently confuse them.

Item level is a gear gate. Dungeons and raids check it at the door. If you are locked out of content, this is usually why.

Combat Power (CP) is the aggregate score of everything: gear, skills, Arcana, boards, pet stats, wings, collections. It is the number people link when they are recruiting for a group, and it is literally the closest thing Aion 2 has to a single measure of character strength. Endgame Korean & Taiwan players sit in the hundreds of thousands.

The key insight for a beginner is that a large portion of your CP does not come from your gear at all. It comes from systems that quietly accumulate: skill levels, board tiles, pet stat rolls, wings you own but do not equip, and skins you have unlocked. Players who only chase gear plateau hard around mid-game and cannot understand why other people with similar equipment are doing double their damage.

Skills: Active, Passive and Stigma

Aion 2 has three skill categories, and skill levels are one of the biggest power sources for new players.

Active Skills

Levelled to 10 with Wisdom Stones from levelling, feather turn-ins and event shops. Beyond level 10, additional levels come from gear Stat Lines (weapons and rings), the Daevanion Board, and Arcana cards.

Active Skills unlock Specialty Perks (like lowering cooldown for that skill) at certain levels: level 8 opens the first three options and one equip slot, level 12 adds a fourth option and a second slot, level 16 unlocks the final option, and level 20 opens the third slot.

Level 20 is the number that matters. Several classes have a single skill carrying well over 60 percent of their damage (Gladiator’s Overhead Slam and Templar’s Judgment are the standout examples), and those skills only come fully online at 20. Identify your two most important skills early and funnel every source of skill levels into them. Global launch will ship with fewer Arcana cards than Korea currently has, which makes skill levels harder to accumulate, so make sure you focus on this.

Passive Skills

Levelled the same way and no less important. Once your key Actives are at 20, redirect everything into your main Passives. Korean endgame players push some passives into the 25 to 30 range, and the damage contribution is substantial.

Stigma Skills

Bigger cooldowns, bigger effects. Stigma Skills unlock five perks through levelling, capped at level 20 for global launch, and you keep every perk you unlock as you go. Korea’s level 50 Chapter 1 update lets players push Stigma Skills to level 25 using a separate Superior Stigma Shard material, but that’s beyond global’s level 45 launch cap for now. They use Stigma Shards, which come from combining Unstable Stigma Shards (earned from a wide range of PvE content) or from spending Abyss Points, a currency in Aion 2. Abyss Points are mainly obtained from Supply Requests, Daily Duties, Weekly Commands and fighting players or mobs in the Abyss. This is one of the most consistent sources of real power for a new player, and it is easy to neglect because it sits behind PvP content.

Support classes in particular are gatekept by Stigma levels. A Cleric or Chanter missing levels on their key group buffs (Undefeated Mantra, Light of Protection and similar) measurably reduces the whole party’s output.

Gear in Aion 2: Grades, Enhancement and Amp Levels

Gear comes in grades, and the two that matter for progression are Yellow (Unique) and Orange (Heroic).

Enhancement is the standard Korean MMO upgrade loop. You spend Kinah plus Enhance Stones to push a piece higher.

  • Yellow/Unique gear goes to +15, then gains 5 additional “Amp” levels.

  • Orange/Heroic gear goes to +20, then gains 5 Amp levels.

  • Amp levels are shown as blue diamonds on the gear and unlock extra orange stats.

  • Amp stats vary by slot: weapons get Attack and Attack Increase, armour gets Defence and HP, accessories get a mix of them.

  • The success rate soft-resets back to around 60 percent when you cross from +15 into Amp territory.

Amplify Stones (used for Amp levels) are made by Substance Morphing Amplify Fragments together with Enhance Stones. Enhance Stones are the real bottleneck for most players, including people spending money. If Kinah itself is your bottleneck, our Kinah service can bridge the gap so you’re not stalling out on enhance stones.

A useful habit from day one: select any item in-game and hit “Source” to see exactly where it drops. Aion 2 has a lot of currencies and materials, and this one button answers most “where do I get this” questions without opening a browser.

Beyond standard Enhancement, two more gear pieces are worth knowing about even if they’re not day-one priorities: Runes, which enhance in pairs and can be destroyed on a failed attempt (similar to accessory enhancing in other Korean MMOs), and a Pendant added with Korea’s level 50 Chapter 1 update, which isn’t part of global’s level 45 launch yet.

Where Gear Comes From

  • Crafted gear has maximum Potential stats built in and cannot be Potential Enhanced further. It gives higher Potential values than dungeon gear.

  • Dungeon gear starts with no Potential and is upgraded using Potential Stones, which mainly come from Conquest dungeons.

  • Raid gear covers the Bracelet (first from the Ludra raid) and the Brooch (first from the Muspel raid).

Stat Lines, Manastones and Soulstones

This is where Aion 2 gets a little complicated, and where new players waste materials the most.

Each piece of gear carries several Stat Lines rolled from a pool, specific to that slot. Every helmet rolls from the same helmet pool, every weapon from the same weapon pool etc. Weapons and Rings can roll Active Skill levels. Armour, Necklaces and Earrings roll Passive Skill levels. This matters enormously, because skill levels are one of the biggest damage sources in the game as it’s mentioned previously.

You have three ways to change these lines:

  • Synch Stones reroll one line at a time. Always use Synch Stones of the same grade as the gear. Using a lower grade stone on Orange/Heroic gear only gives a 10 percent reroll chance, which is a waste.

  • Soul Codex: Reset books (everybody just calls it Reset Books) shuffle every line at once.

  • Soul Codex books raise the value of each line via the Soul Binding system. Once every line reaches 100 percent binding, you can spend two Philosopher’s Stones to unlock one extra Stat Line.

Manastones and Soulstones are separate. Manastones go on weapons and armour, Soulstones on accessories. Every time you consume one, it rerolls all of your stone sockets at once. Stat quality scales Gray to Green to Blue to Yellow, and the gap from Blue to Yellow is large: a Blue Damage Boost line gives 30, the Yellow version gives 100 (and 100 Boost equals 1 percent on your stat sheet so it’s big damage).

Theostones socket into weapons for a percentage chance to proc an effect on hit. They give a nice glow. They also contribute well under 1 percent of your total damage, so treat them as cosmetic until they get buffed.

The Transfer Rule Every Beginner Needs to Memorise

When you transfer gear to an upgraded piece, some things carry over and some do not.

Carries over: base Stat Lines and Soul Binding progress.

Lost forever: the extra Philosopher’s Stone line, all Manastone and Soulstone lines, all Theostone sockets, and all Potential stat lines.

This single rule should govern your entire early-game spending. Do not pour Superior Manastones into a piece you will replace in two weeks. Do not chase a perfect Philosopher’s Stone line on gear that is a stepping stone. Save the investment for the set you intend to keep.

Transfer itself costs Transfer Stones, made from Transfer Stone Fragments. Orange/Heroic fragments come almost exclusively from Substance Morphing Orange/Heroic gear, at a rate of five fragments per piece. You need 10 fragments for an accessory transfer, 15 for armour and 20 for a weapon. Moving a Yellow piece up into an Orange piece costs an additional five Yellow Transfer Stones, and you cannot upgrade Yellow Transfer Stones into Orange ones.

The practical advice: hoard Orange/Heroic Transfer Fragments aggressively in your first month. You will need a lot of them later, and there is no shortcut to getting more. If all this juggling sounds like more than you want to manage in your first few weeks, our Advanced Package bundles the boosts that matter most through this stretch of the game.

What Are Conquest Dungeons in Aion 2?

Aion 2’s group dungeons are called Expeditions, and each one offers:

  • Exploration difficulty, the learning mode. Forgiving, scales down, good for reading mechanics.

  • Conquest difficulty, which has Normal and Hard variants and drops much better gear.

Expeditions are small-group party content built around two mid-bosses and one final boss, and global expands standard party size from Korea’s four players to five. Clearing the final boss spawns a reward cube, and opening that cube costs energy rather than being free. On Conquest difficulty the final boss has roughly a 7.5 percent chance to drop Unique grade gear and around a 0.5 percent chance for Heroic grade.

Why beginners should care: Conquest dungeons are the primary source of Potential Stones, which is the material you use to add PvE Damage Boost to weapons and accessories and PvE Damage Tolerance to armour. They also drop Philosopher’s Stones and Synch Stone Fragments. If you want your gear to actually improve, Conquest is your bread and butter.

The standard progression is: clear Exploration to learn mechanics and get baseline gear, move to Conquest Normal for the item level jump, and then Hard mode as your gear allows. Hard mode assumes near-optimal gear and full consumable usage, so do not force it early.

What Are Transcendence Dungeons in Aion 2?

Transcendence is the tier above Expedition, and it works differently. These are high-difficulty, time-attack style instances with strict item level gates at the door and damage checks inside. Several Transcendence encounters expect you to kill the final boss inside a five-minute window.

The rewards are what make them essential:

  • Arcana cards, the primary source. This alone makes Transcendence mandatory.

  • Breakthrough Stone Fragments and Stigma Shard Fragments.

  • From Stage 2 onwards, the Marchutan’s Trace fragments needed to activate that Daevanion board, and the Harmonious Crystal Fragments used for higher Arcana.

  • Slightly more Kinah than equivalent Conquest runs.

  • Crystal shards used to craft your own Arcana cards, with different dungeons dropping different shard types.

Transcendence runs are capped weekly (14 reward-bearing runs per week on the Korean build). Because Arcana cards are how you push Active Skills to level 20, and level 20 skills are where your class actually comes online, Transcendence should become a fixed part of your weekly routine as soon as you can enter.

Expect the names to shift between regions. The same Korean dungeon title has been translated more than one way in coverage, so verify against the live English client rather than an old article.

Raids and Other Endgame Content

Sanctuary raids are the pinnacle group content. Sanctuary Ludra (also called the Abyssal Forge) is a 10 Player raid split into two parties of five, with a reactor phase before the bosses and a shared final encounter. Entry sits around level 45 and 2,700+ (might be 2.8k for Global) item level, with limited weekly attempts. The Bracelet, which is your source of Pantheon stats from gear, drops here. Later raids (Corroded, Muspel) gate the Brooch and higher stat requirements. If your group is ever short a player or you just want a guaranteed clear on a tight schedule, our Rent A Booster service can fill that slot for a run.

Nightmare is solo boss content across multiple layers / challenges, rewarding Dream Fragments spent in a dedicated shop on wings, skins and statues.

Strongholds provide the Belt enhancement scrolls, and feather turn-ins (Empyrean Traces) provide Amulet scrolls and Wisdom Stones. Weekly Ascension Trials are also worth running on schedule since they feed your PvE Daevanion Board progress, covered in more detail in our Aion 2 Daevanion Guide.

Once you’re clearing raids on a regular basis, our Endgame Package bundles the boosts most players end up wanting at that stage.

Accuracy and Crit Requirements

Bosses carry Block and Critical Resist values that directly counter your Accuracy and Critical Hit. You need to reach specific thresholds or you will miss and lose crits regardless of how much raw damage you have stacked. As a rough Korean-build reference:

  • Sanctuary Ludra: around 1,500 Accuracy and 1,600 Crit

  • Corroded (the second raid tier): around 2,350 Accuracy and 2,500 Crit

  • Muspel Hard (the third raid tier): around 2,800 Accuracy and 3,150 Crit

These aren’t confirmed 1:1 for global yet, but they give you a sense of how quickly the bar climbs. Keep in mind there are additional stats that add to Accuracy and Crit, like PVE Accuracy and Block Penetration, so what you see on your “Stat Info > Main Stats” page will read lower than these totals once you factor those in. Before you assume a wipe is a gear or DPS problem, make sure it isn’t just a miss or no-crit problem instead.

The Horizontal Progression Systems

These are the systems that separate players with identical gear. It’s crucial to set them up correctly.

Arcana

A card system that grants stats and most importantly, skill levels. Our full Aion 2 Arcana Guide goes much deeper into how card types, sets and crafting all fit together, but here’s the short version. There are ten card types (Chalice, Parchment, Compass, Bell, Mirror, Scale, Key, Hourglass, Dice, Lantern) and seven sets.

Chalice and Scale can roll any Active or Passive Skill, which makes them the most valuable and the hardest to perfect. The other cards roll four lines from a pool of six, so a random drop or a cheap craft has a decent chance of being usable.

You can craft cards in the Transmute section and choose your own lines, at the cost of Crystals farmed from Transcendence dungeons. This is worth doing and should be a priority once you know which skills you need. Craft the Chalice first though.

Global will not launch with the full set. Asia launched with five Arcana (Compass through Mirror) and two sets. Plan around the smaller pool.

Daevanion Boards

Essentially a Paragon board. Eight boards total, each tile granting stats or skill levels. Respeccing is nearly free, so experiment without anxiety. Our Aion 2 Daevanion Guide breaks down all eight boards and exactly where each currency comes from if you want the full picture.

The four white boards (Nezekan, Zikel, Vaizel, Triniel) share a single point pool and grant skill levels. Prioritise your key Active Skills first to help reach levels 12, 16 and 20, then go for the high-value orange corner tiles. Note that some orange tiles are worthless in PvE: Multi-hit Resist on Triniel and Critical Damage Tolerance on Vaizel do nothing against bosses as an example.

The four coloured boards have individual point pools and no skill levels. Ariel is the PvE board and should be your priority. Azphel is PvP and can be ignored for PvE. Marchutan and Yustiel give general stats and are completed by farming Conquest and Transcendence.

Pet Genus

Five boards, each with nine stat slots. As you raise your “Insight” level you unlock more slots and access higher stat grades. You roll all unlocked slots at once and can lock individual lines, with each lock making the next roll more expensive.

The efficient approach is simple: you need to get every board to Insight level 10 first and ignore whatever stats you roll along the way, because level 10 gives the best chance at the highest grade lines. The one exception is a high Double Chance roll (older guides sometimes call this stat “Smite”, so don’t be thrown off if you see that name elsewhere), which you should lock immediately. After level 10, reroll until you land Double Chance on lines 3 and 9, lock those, then fish for the rest. A 2 percent Double Chance roll is considered excellent.

One global-specific note worth knowing: pre-launch livestreams confirmed pet levels are capped at 3 for global’s first season instead of Korea’s 5, and pets can now auto-loot nearby items for you (it costs Kinah to turn on). That should make the overall pet grind noticeably lighter than what current Korea-based guides describe. Our Pet Leveling service can handle the Insight grind for you, and the All Pets Bundle covers the whole collection at once if you’d rather skip the RNG entirely.

Wings

Wings give stats two ways: an Equip Effect when worn and an Owned Effect just for owning them. Owned Effects mean every good pair you collect is permanent power even if you never fly with them. Wings enhance up to level 10, and enhancing reveals hidden stat lines that are not shown at level 0, which is why some wings look mediocre until you invest in them.

Closet (Transmog)

Unlocking skins grants percentage stat increases by skin type. Weapon skins raise your weapon’s Attack Increase, and so on. It is slow, it is permanent, and it is real damage. Unlock skins whenever it is free to do so.

Which Stats Actually Matter in Aion 2

Aion 2’s damage formula is unusually complex and weird, with stats sitting in different multiplicative buckets. You do not need the formula, but you do need the priority order.

Percentage damage stats, best to worst:

Double Chance > Front/Back Attack Damage Boost > Weapon Damage Boost ≈ Critical Damage Boost > Damage Boost

Flat attack stats, best to worst:

Attack > Max Attack > Attack Bonus > everything else

A few notes that explain the ranking:

  • Double Chance (some older material calls this stat “Smite”, they’re the same thing) gives you a flat chance to deal double damage on a hit, and it is the single strongest offensive stat in the game. Bosses from a certain tier onward carry 30 percent Double Chance Resistance, which is why high-end players stack so much of it.

  • Front/Back Attack Damage Boost sits in its own multiplicative bucket that nothing else adds into, and it starts from a base of 0 percent. That combination makes it extremely efficient, which is why even non-positional classes stack it. One caveat worth knowing: this stat was added to the Korean build alongside their level 50 Chapter 1 update, so exactly how it’s tuned (or whether it’s live at all) for global’s level 45 launch isn’t fully confirmed. Treat its priority here as a Korea/Taiwan reference point rather than a guaranteed global day-one fact, and double check it once servers are live.

  • Damage Boost is the weakest of the boost stats specifically because so many sources add into the same bucket, which triggers diminishing returns fast.

  • Penetration is a low-value stat. Defence in PvE only reduces damage by 10 percent of its value, so subtracting from it does very little.

  • Combat Speed is excellent and something you stack freely, with the ping caveat mentioned earlier.

  • Power Shards are consumables that raise damage by roughly 4.65 percent (regular) or 8.9 percent (Superior). Use them. They are close to free damage.

Diminishing returns apply to nearly everything, which means global launch stat values will differ from Korean endgame ones. With smaller total stat pools, your first points in any stat are worth more than the charts from Korea suggest.

12 Beginner Mistakes to Avoid in Aion 2

  1. Investing in gear you are about to replace. Manastones, Soulstones, Theostones and Potential lines are all destroyed on transfer. This is the single most expensive mistake in the game.

  2. Burning Orange/Heroic Transfer Stones early. They are hard to obtain, you cannot upgrade Yellow stones into Orange ones, and you will need a stockpile later. Many experienced players skip transferring into the first Heroic set entirely and wait for the second one.

  3. Spreading skill levels evenly. Two skills at level 20 beat six skills at level 14. Identify your class’s key skills and commit.

  4. Using mismatched Synch Stones. A Yellow Synch Stone on Orange gear only has a 10 percent chance to do anything. Never do this.

  5. Leaving the main story to grind mobs. It is slower, and it leaves systems locked. If your schedule just doesn’t have room for the grind, that’s exactly what our Character Leveling service is for.

  6. Ignoring Region content entirely. Strongholds, sealed dungeons and exploration feed the Daeva gauge and hand out materials you will otherwise have to farm the hard way.

  7. Locking Pet Genus lines before Insight level 10. You are capping your own stat grades. The only exception is a strong Double Chance roll.

  8. Chasing a Philosopher’s Stone line on temporary gear. That line does not transfer. Fish for it on your keeper set.

  9. Treating wings as cosmetic. Owned Effects are permanent stats. Collect and enhance them.

  10. Spending energy on low-tier content. Reward cubes cost energy to open, and your energy pool is capped. Prioritise Conquest and Transcendence over trash runs.

  11. Picking a class from an undated tier list. Balance has already been overhauled many many times (our own Aion 2 Global Class Tier List and Most Fun Classes guides make the same point). Role preference outlasts patch notes.

  12. Over-investing in Theostones. Under 1 percent of your damage. Pick the one with the coolest glow and move on.

Your First Week Checklist

  • Pick a faction with your friends, and a class by role rather than tier list.

  • Follow the Episode quest line as your main route, clearing Region content as you pass through it.

  • Learn dodge timings and enemy telegraphs before trying to learn a rotation.

  • Get to level 45, collect your Belt and Amulet from the main story.

  • Run Expedition Exploration difficulty to learn mechanics safely, then move to Conquest.

  • Start collecting Abyss Points through Supply Requests, Daily Duties and Weekly Commands.

  • Push your two most important Active Skills toward level 20 using rings, the Daevanion Board and Arcana.

  • Get the Ariel Daevanion board moving. It is the PvE board.

  • Raise every Pet Genus board to Insight level 10 without locking anything.

  • Hoard Orange/Heroic Transfer Fragments. Do not spend them yet.

  • Keep your Cube organised and check “Source” on any item you do not recognise.

Final Thoughts

Aion 2 rewards patience with materials far more than it rewards speed. The players who pull ahead in the first month are rarely the ones who levelled fastest. They are the ones who understood which upgrades are permanent, which are destroyed on transfer, and where their next meaningful power spike actually comes from.

Follow the story, learn your class’s key skills, get into Conquest and Transcendence as soon as you can enter, and keep your Transfer Fragments in the bank. Everything else is refinement.

System details in this guide reflect the Korean and Taiwanese live builds as of late 2026, cross-checked against confirmed pre-launch announcements for the global version. Some numbers, especially anything tied to Korea’s level 50 Chapter 1 update, may not apply at global’s level 45 launch, so verify specifics against the live client and current patch notes once servers are up.

If you want to skip the boring grind and get right to the endgame content, our Aion 2 Boosting Services are designed to help busy gamers who want to enjoy their hobby without having to sink dozens of hours per week. You can also use the code BLOG15 at checkout for 15% off!

FAQ

Is Aion 2 free to play?

Yes. Aion 2 is free to play on PC through Steam and the PURPLE launcher, with an optional paid monthly membership that affects things like full auction house access. Founder's Packs grant five days of advance access before the free launch.

How many classes does Aion 2 have?

Eight at global launch: Templar, Gladiator, Assassin, Ranger, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Cleric and Chanter. A ninth class, Brawler, exists on the Korean and Taiwanese servers and was added in the Chapter 1 update, but NCSoft has not confirmed it for the global launch build

What is the best class for beginners in Aion 2?

There is no verified best class, and any launch tier list is speculation. For an easy start, Ranger offers safe ranged damage, Gladiator levels fastest solo, Chanter is flexible and always welcome, and Templar or Cleric guarantee near-instant group invites. Avoid Assassin and Sorcerer as your very first class if you are new to action MMOs.

What is the difference between Conquest and Transcendence dungeons?

Conquest is the higher difficulty tier of Expedition dungeons and is your main source of gear, Potential Stones and Philosopher's Stones. Transcendence is a separate, harder tier of time-attack instances with item level gates, and it is the primary source of Arcana cards and the crystals used to craft them.

What is Combat Power in Aion 2?

Combat Power is the aggregate score of your entire character: gear, skill levels, Arcana, Daevanion boards, pet stats, wings and collections. It is what groups check when recruiting. Because so much of it comes from horizontal systems rather than gear, two players with identical equipment can have very different CP.

Do Elyos and Asmodians play together?

Not generally, but some instanced content (Expedition, Transcendence and Sanctuary activities) permits mixed-faction parties. The rest of the game keeps the faction conflict intact, so coordinate with friends before choosing.

Does Aion 2 have a mobile version?

Mobile versions exist in supported Asian markets, but the global release is Windows PC only. No wider mobile or console launch has been announced.

Do characters transfer from the Korean or Taiwanese servers?

No. The global service is separate. Characters, progress and purchases do not carry over

What stat should I prioritise as a new player?

Smite is the strongest offensive stat in the game, followed by Front/Back Attack Damage Boost and Weapon Damage Boost. For flat stats, raw Attack beats Max Attack, which beats Attack Bonus. Before optimising any of that, make sure you meet the Accuracy and Critical Hit thresholds for the content you are running, because missing those wastes everything else.
