The Undead Slaying Sets are special armor sets originally introduced during the Scourge Invasion event in Classic WoW. Each set provides a unique bonus against undead enemies, making them extremely effective during this limited-time event.
There are four armor sets, one for each armor type: Cloth, Leather, Mail, and Plate. Each set consists of three pieces: Wrists, Gloves, and Chest. Equipping all three grants a 2% damage increase against undead.
These items return in the Classic Anniversary Phase 6 event (October 2–30) and are available only during this period. Once the event ends, the sets can no longer be obtained.
Undead Slaying Sets Overview
Armor Type | Set Name | Set Pieces | Bonus |
---|---|---|---|
Cloth | Regalia of Undead Cleansing | Bracers, Gloves, Robe | +Spell Damage vs Undead, +2% overall damage to undead |
Leather | Undead Slayer’s Armor | Wristwraps, Handwraps, Tunic | +Attack Power vs Undead, +2% overall damage |
Garb of the Undead Slayer | Wristguards, Handguards, Chestguard | +Attack Power vs Undead, +2% overall damage | |
Plate | Battlegear of Undead Slaying | Bracers, Gauntlets, Breastplate | +Attack Power vs Undead, +2% overall damage |
Each piece scales around item level 63 and requires level 58 to equip, making them powerful pre-Naxxramas options.
How to Get the Undead Slaying Sets
The sets are tied to the Scourge Invasion event, active from October 2nd to 30th. During the invasion, floating Necropolises appear across six zones:
- Eastern Plaguelands
- Burning Steppes
- Blasted Lands
- Tanaris
- Winterspring
- Azshara
Under each Necropolis, waves of undead spawn around a central crystal. Defeating them weakens the crystal, progressing the event and spawning elite enemies that drop set pieces.
1. Getting the Wrists
Wrists are the most common piece and are Bind on Equip, meaning you can also find them on the Auction House. To farm them directly, look for rare spawns in invasion zones:
- Lumbering Horror
- Spirit of the Damned
- Bone Witch
Each of these rare undead has a chance to drop one of the following:
- Bracers of Undead Cleansing (Cloth)
- Wristwraps of Undead Slaying (Leather)
- Wristguards of Undead Slaying (Mail)
- Bracers of Undead Slaying (Plate)
They have about a 7–8% drop chance from the rares, and since they are BoE, players often trade or sell them during the event.
2. Getting the Chest Pieces
Chest pieces are obtained by summoning and defeating Shadow of Doom enemies. To summon one:
- Find an active Scourge crystal circle beneath a Necropolis.
- Kill undead until the crystal weakens.
- When it’s low, four Cultist Engineers will appear to repair it.
- Use 8x Necrotic Runes to interact with each Engineer.
Each Engineer transforms into a Shadow of Doom — an elite boss that drops:
- One of the four Chest pieces (Robe, Tunic, Chestguard, or Breastplate of Undead Slaying).
- 30x Necrotic Runes and a Corruptor’s Scourgestone (if wearing the Argent Dawn trinket).
Shadow of Doom has roughly a 7–8% chance to drop a chest item. Repeat the process across invasion sites for multiple attempts.
3. Getting the Gloves
The Gloves are purchased from Argent Quartermasters once you unlock access via a short questline.
Quest: Under the Shadow - from Commander Thomas Helleran at Light’s Hope Chapel (Eastern Plaguelands)
Steps to unlock vendor access:
- Collect 10x Necrotic Runes from undead during invasions.
- Turn them in to Helleran to complete Under the Shadow.
- Once done, you can buy gloves for 30x Necrotic Runes from any of the following vendors:
- Argent Quartermaster - Ironforge, Stormwind, or Eastern Plaguelands.
- Argent Outfitter - Orgrimmar or Eastern Plaguelands.
Each vendor sells gloves corresponding to your armor type:
- Gloves of Undead Cleansing (Cloth)
- Handwraps of Undead Slaying (Leather)
- Handguards of Undead Slaying (Mail)
- Gauntlets of Undead Slaying (Plate)
Final Thoughts
These Undead Slaying Sets return as part of Classic Phase 6: Scourge Invasion. If you missed them in earlier eras, this anniversary event is your only chance to collect them before they disappear again.
If you want to complete your Undead Slaying set before the event ends, or need help farming Necrotic Runes and elite bosses, consider a WoW Classic Scourge Invasion boost, it’s a fast and secure way to finish your armor collection before it disappears again.
