Be it in Vanilla, Classic or Season of Discovery, one thing remains the same: Molten Core is the first step on any Raider's journey through World of Warcraft's most difficult end game content. With SoD introducing plenty of new mechanics, cheif among them the staggering increase in player power and class / spec customization, it comes as no surprise that the available content becomes tougher to match.

Molten Core serves as the perfect example for just how hard it can get. Instead of the standard Normal, Heroic, Mythic format, players will now have to brave difficulty levels determined by various unique, affix-like modifiers which increase both enemy health and damage, but also tack on additional buffs & debuffs to the raiding party. For Molten Core, this comes in the form of Heat Levels, which go as follows:

• Sweltering Heat – Level 1
• Blistering Heat – Level 2
• Molten Heat – Level 3

Each level adds an increasingly heavy fire damage dot to the entire group, and of course, also beefs up bosses and trash mobs while also offering progressively better gear. Moreover, Molten Heat also adds an entirely new boss - the Molten Core itself, which players battle after defeating Ragnaros. This boss is no joke, demanding both a heavy investment into Fire Resist gear, enchants & consumables, as well as very geared healers and a high level of group coordination.

All of this combined makes Molten Core more of a challenge than most players are ready to handle, especially at Blistering or Molten Heat. Its tough enough to handle the heat when you've got a fully stacked team of raiders, and much, much harder when you're trying to pug it out. That is, if you even get invited into a pug. The toxicity that is common in modern WoW is just as present in SoD as it is in Retail, which means that you'll be running laps in Org or SW for hours at a time if you're not decked out in meta gear & Class Runes.
