Introduction

World of Warcraft has existed for over 20 years, and during those incredible years full of ups and downs, each expansion brought new mounts. The War Within was no different, bringing tons of great and unique mounts to the table. We will run through all mounts added in this new expansion and how to obtain each one, and be ready to fill your endless mount collection with new and fresh rideable friends!

Isle of Dorn

Let’s start with the first zone you get in, once you arrive in Khaz’Algar! The Isle of Dorn is full of lots of interesting places and plenty of interesting mounts that follow the theme of the zone. From the cool rams to the unique-looking gryphons, this zone is filled with a lot of lifeforms that are only available in this zone. You’ve probably wondered if the elemental gryphons that we’ve seen Earthen ride are something we can also get other than the one in the store, and the answer is YES!

  • Alunira - This magnificent and mighty gryphon can be seen as an Orange mob that cannot be attacked. This is due to it needing a specific item to break its barrier. The item you will need to obtain is Storm Vessel. To get this item, you need to collect 10 Crackling Shards and combine them. This item has a low drop chance from ANY mob in the Isle of Dorn. Once you have that item, you will need to head to the peak of Mountain Dhar Oztan, located on the Isle of Dorn.

  • Reins of the Soaring Meaderbee - This is another mount that you can farm in the Isle, the zone where you have to kill mobs and collect items required is in the Cinderbrew Meadery part of the zone. You need 900 Sizzling Polen to buy the mount, it takes significantly less that the previous mentioned mount, however it’s good to farm this one if you intend to obtain Alunira, as you will need to kill a lot of mobs for both of these mounts and these mounts are also eligible to drop Crackling Shards alongside the item you need for this mount. So it is a good combo to farm them both at the same time! After you've got 900 of the currency you need, you need to head to Cendvin, located close by, and trade the items for the mount.

Two more mounts are tied to the Isle of Dorn that you can obtain through reputation with the Council of Dornogal once you reach a certain Renown level with the faction.

  • Shale Ramolith (Renown 18, purchased from Auditor Balwurz for 8125 Resonance Crystals)
  • Smoldering Cinderbee (Renown 23, purchased from the same vendor for 11375 of the same currency)

The Ringing Deeps

The second zone you arrive in after doing the first part of the questline is The Ringing Deeps. Another pretty special zone that’s just a big underground location, filled with lots of beings that live underground as their natural habitat. From moles to big flying mites, they have all sorts of things! Even a big robot is an option to get!

  • Machine Defense Unit 1-11 - The glorious robotic construct is here to satisfy your Warhammer-like fantasy in no time! It is obtained as a random drop from the weekly activity, the Awakening of the Machine, as the final reward from the end chest. It has a low to medium drop chance, but it’s not too bad like some of the infamous raid/dungeon mounts.

  • Regurgitated Mole Reins - This is a drop from the zone's Rare Elite Lurker of the Deeps that spawns after you trigger 6 valves to summon it, which are located around the Elite. It does have a low drop chance, so it might take you a few tries to obtain the mount

  • Wick’s Lead - This is a dungeon drop from Darkflame Cleft (Mythic) from the Darkness boss; however, since the dungeon is located in the zone, we will put it here! It’s another low drop chance, so it can take you a bit longer to get it as well!

  • Stonevault Mechsuit - This is a very rare item that can drop from the second boss in The Stonevault, on both Mythic and Heroic difficulty. It will drop an item that starts a quest that you then have to complete to obtain the mount. It is a way lower drop chance than the previously mentioned mounts in this zone, so it can take way longer than the others.

Other mounts that are located in this location are the ones tied to Renown levels.

  • Crimson Mudnose (Renown 19 with the Assembly of the Deeps reputation, purchased from Waxmonger Squick for 8125 Resonance Crystals)
  • Cyan Glowmite (Renown 23 with the aforementioned reputation, bought with 11375 of the above currency)

Hallowfall

Our Arathi friends are not immune to great mounts and fashionable choices in that department! They have their loyal Lynxes that we can obtain as well, but also something a bit darker, waiting to join our huge collection as fast as possible!

  • Beledar’s Spawn - This dark ghost-like being is something that has a very interesting model that not a lot of mounts share, quite similar to the Keystone Master mounts from Shadowlands, so it’s a very cool mount to aim for. It spawns every 3 hours, once Hallowfall’s light becomes Void and the zone goes all dark and purple, I do recommend getting to him ASAP, as he usually gets nuked. The drop is on the lower end, however, it’s not too bad. You can kill him once per alt, and since he has a set time when he spawns, it’s a good way to farm him on multiple alts.

  • Dauntless Imperial Lynx - Another one that you can obtain from Events, this time located in the Hallowfall. It can drop as an RNG reward from the chest that you get from the Spreading the Light World Event. You can farm a few of these satchels per week, however, the drop chance is abysmally low, similar to the Mech mount from Darkflame Cleft.

  • Kah, the Legend of the Deep - This badass fish can be obtained by completing the achievement related to fishing in Khaz’Algar (The Derby Dash) and turning in the quest during the Mereldar fishing derby.

Others that remain are tied to the reputation with the Hallowfall Arathi.

  • Vermillion Imperial Lynx (Renown 21, bought from Auralia Steelstrike for 8125 Resonance Crystals)
  • Shackled Shadow (Renown 23, purchased from the same vendor for the price of 11375 this time)

Azj-Kahet

Our spider enemies (or well, friends in some cases…) are compelling guys, they have lots of interesting mounts that also share an appearance with Nerubians, so you can expect lots of spiders! If you’re not a fan of them, you can always use the Arachnophobia filter!

  • Siesbarg - One of my expansion favorites, this monstrosity of a mount is dropped as a 100 % drop chance item from Tka’ktath rare elite, however, it doesn’t drop the mount, but a quest Vial of Tka’ktath’s Blood, in which you need to complete certain steps before you get your new Spidery-flying friend. First, you need to collect 500 Nerubian Blood. After completing the first step, you will turn in the quest and start your next adventure to obtain 1000 Nerubian Venom. Getting 1000 is a long haul, but it doesn’t end there. The last step is to get 1500 Nerubian Chitin, and once you obtain them all, you can now get your new insane mount!

  • Reins of the Ascendant Skyrazor - Another mount that’s not directly dropped from the zone location, but the raid that’s located within the zone, the Nerubar Palace. It’s a mythic variant of the mount of the same model as Siesbarg and has a 100 % drop chance per kill, however, it only drops 3 mounts per raid group. It’s a reward from the last boss, Queen Ansurek, on Mythic difficulty. The always 3 mount drops will last till the end of the expansion and will end starting in the Midnight Expansion pack.

  • Reins of the Sureki Skyrazor - This is a variant that drops on any difficulty, it’s similar to the two previous ones, and it has a low drop chance from the same boss as the Ascendant one.

  • Reins of the Shadowed Swarmite - Another achievement mount, awarded after completing the Glory of Nerub’ar Palace achievements listed there.

The rest of the mounts located within this zone are from the vendors, another reputation grind that awards more than two mounts. However, Azj’Kajet has a bit different system for the reputation, as you have 3 different NPCs that have progress each for their own. This reputation then combines and has a single progress for the main one, The Severed Threads, however, each new ally has a progress bar that you need to complete. Essentially, getting a reputation for 1 NPC progresses the main faction, and once you decide to progress the other NPC, that progress also adds to the Severed Threads, but doesn’t progress the first-mentioned NPC.

  • Ferocious Jawcrawler (Renown 22, the Severed Threads, purchased from Lady Vinazian for 2815 Kej)
  • Aquamarine Swarmite (Renown 23, from the same faction and the vendor, obtained this time with 3940 Kej)
  • Heritage Undercrawler (Conspirator rank with the General, bought with 2020 Kej)
  • Royal Court Undercrawler (Requires the same rank, but with the Vizier bought for the same amount)
  • Widow’s Undercrawler (This one is obtained by reaching Conspirator with the Weaver, and also purchased with 2020 Kej)

Siren Isle

This zone was introduced in patch 11.0.5 as a new addition to the 4 zones we previously had, and it came with some unique mounts, themed around the sea and pirates. Even though it’s not a big zone, it does have some interesting and unique mounts that should make your roster even more valuable, so you should not ignore this valuable filler zone!

  • Thrayir, Eyes of the Siren - A pretty interesting spectral-blue bird that will make your collection even more epic. This is kind of a puzzle mount, as you have to collect multiple pieces spread across the Isle and combine them all together. The pieces you need to collect are the following: Whirling Runekey, Torrential Runekey, Thunderous Runekey, Cyclonic Runekey, Turbulent Runekey. Once you have these items, the zone must be in the Seafury Tempest phase so you can activate the Runekeys. The ritual will be located in the eastern room of the Forgotten Vault. Once there, you need to place all 5 keys in the right location, which are 5 runestones spread across the room.

  • Prismatic Snapdragon - This is another very unique mount, due to the customization it can have once you obtain it and complete the required quest chain. However, it does take 10 days to complete as it is locked behind a daily questline that you need to complete to obtain. Once you get it, you can complete other activities/quests and obtain different colors for the mount, which you can then customize to your liking.

  • The Breaker’s Song - Mount that’s tied to the meta achievement locked behind the zone, once you complete the Isle Remember You, you can obtain this interesting ship mount.

  • Soweezi’s Vintage Waveshredder - This unique model is what this mount is all about. Previously, only a mount from Trading Post had this model, so it’s a nice way to get something interesting and add to your collection. To get this one, you need 10000 Flame-Blessed Iron, which is the currency tied to Siren Isle, so it can take some time, but it is worth the grind!

Undermine

Goblins are back on the menu (Not the food one, thankfully) with the patch 11.1 - One of the most distinctive and amusing zones to date. With the goblin’s engineering that we all love and enjoy, there is plenty of the zone left with a taste, and of course, mounts are no different. Funky Jazz is the location's vibe, and the mounts are not left out of the enjoyment! From robotic constructs and fascinating vehicles is all it is about, so we need to make sure you get them all! So let us begin!

  • Salvaged Goblin’s Gazillionaire’s Flying Machine - This is a rare drop from the Gallagio Garbage special rare. It’s a low drop chance, so farming Gallagio Garbage might take some time for you to get it. Luckily, this one does not require multiple alts, as you can kill it and be eligible for the mount multiple times per day.

  • Darkfuse Spy-Eye - Unlike the one above, this one is on the lower drop chance end and is also a weekly lockout, so it can take a long time to get it. It drops from a rare that goes by the name Darkfuse Precipitant.

  • Junkmaestro’s Magnetomech - Undermine brings the infamous raid with the same name, Liberation of Undermine, its meta achievement Glory of the Liberation of Undermine, and completing everything listed in the said achievement will grant you this gorgeous mount.

  • Prototype A.S.M.R. - We all know and hate/love Gallywix, as he’s the last boss of the raid, he brings a couple of the mounts with him, and this one is tied to the greedy goblin. It has a low drop chance and can be obtained from any raid difficulty.

  • Keys to the Big G - One mount was not enough, old Gallywix left us a bit more, and this one is by far one of my all-time favorite mounts. It drops from the Mythic difficulty of the raid. It is still not clear what exactly the drop chance is, but if we got by Queen Ansurek, it should be 3 per clear till the end of the expansion. Mythic raid can be a challenging thing, and hard to find a solid group to tackle this challenging content, however, we do have some plans related to helping people get Mythic raid cleared, so it could be exactly what you need!

  • Personalized Goblin S.C.R.A.P.P.E.R - Requiring you to obtain some extra renown upgrades to fully access it, this mount is part of the trove-like drop Sifted Pile of Scrap, and it’s on the lower end of the drop rate.

  • Violet Goblin Shredder - A similar-looking recolor of the previous mount, this one is obtained through the Shipping and Handling World Event. It drops from the Extravagant Tip Chest and requires you to achieve Renown 8 to be eligible for it.

Troves are another way to get some of the interesting recolors of a lot of mounts from the Undermine. Here are the following mounts you can get from these chests.

  • Steamweedle Supplier (Steamweedle Trove)
  • Venture Co-ordinator (Venture Co. Trove)
  • Bilgewater Bombardier (Bilgewater Trove)
  • Blackwater Bonecrusher (Blackwater Trove)
  • Bronze Goblin Waveshredder (Darkfuse Trove)

Unfortunately, we still don’t know the exact drop chance of these mounts from the Troves, however, it is important to note that you are required to be Exalted with each Goblin faction to be eligible for their respective trove.

Like all the previous zones, there are plenty of mounts to be obtained through the Renown Reputation, so the following mounts are there to be added to your magnificent collection through this system.

  • Violet Armored Growler (Renown 15, purchased from Smaks Topskimmer for 8125 Resonance Crystals)
  • The Topskimmer Special (Renown 19, bought from the same NPC and requires 11375 Resonance Crystals)
  • Crimson Armored Growler (Requires Exalted reputation with Bilgewater Cartel, purchased from Rocco Razzboom and priced at 8125 Res. Crystals)
  • Mean Green Flying Machine (Another Exalted mount, this time with the Steamweedle Cartle and bought from Lab Assistant Laszly for 11375)
  • Blackwater Shreder Deluxe MK 2 (Blackwater Cartel’s Exalted mount obtained for 8125 Resonance Crystals from Boatswain Hardee)
  • Ocher Delivery Rocket (Our friends from Venture Co. offer us this mount once we get Exalted for the price of 11375 Resonance Crystals sold by Shredz the Scrapper)
  • Darkfuse Demolisher (Darkfuse Solutions Cartel gives us this badboy on the Exalted reputation, priced at 11375, and purchased from Sitch Lowdown)

There is also a new reputation type, known as the Raid Renown system. It’s a brand new system that also comes with new rewards to obtain, and among them are our favorite ones, the mounts!

  • Thunderdrum Misfire (Renown 8, purchased from Ando the Gat for 500 gold)
  • Darkfuse Chompactor (Renown 17, bought from Ando the Gat for 500 gold)
  • Furious Flarendo (Renown 20, can be obtained from Vinnie Sweets within the Liberation of Undermine raid)

Other Sources (PvP, PvE, Achievements)

There are still a few months left to discuss. Some of the mounts added are not tied to any specific zone, or they require you to do things across multiple zones, compete in PvE or PvP activities, or even do some Timewalking or other content that the game has to offer. Here are the mounts that were added in The War Within, and you can still get them through various sources!

  • Swarmite Skyhunter - This mount is obtained through the achievements Khaz Algar Glyph Hunter, and it requires you to collect all glyphs added in zones from 11.0 (Isle of Dorn, Ringing Deeps, Hallowfal, Azj’Kajet)

  • Ivory Goliathus - Mount that you can get through completing an achievement, Glory of the Delver, finishing achievements listed there, located in Delves across the Khaz Algar.

  • Delver’s Dirigible - Fairly easy one, as you only need to take a quest from Brann Bronzebeard and turn it in. After that, you will obtain this new customizable mount. Each season, there is a special boss marked as “??”. This season (2), it is Underpin, and this boss will give you a special schematic that will unlock a special appearance for your fancy flying machine, making it even more luxurious! The name of this cosmetic is Delver’s Gob Trotter Schematic: Gold.

  • Shadow of Doubt - Another achievement-tied mount, once you complete You Xal Not Pass, you will be eligible to get this one!

  • Vicious Electro Eel - This one is tied to PvP, however, it is not that hard to get, as you don’t need a high rating to obtain it. One of the easier PvP mounts to get, for a pretty indifferent mount from previous ones we had! You are required to win some matches after you reach 1000 Rating in any PvP bracket! Comes in blue for the Alliance and red for the Horde!

  • Prized Gladiator’s Felbat - Unlike the above ones, this one is one of the more challenging ones, as it is the Gladiator mount that is limited for only this season, like its previous counterparts in each PvP season before it. You’re required to win 50 matches while being a Gladiator in the 3v3 Bracket. Even if you’re not that skilled in PvP, coaching is a good way to improve and get some new experience to help you achieve this insane and rare mount!

  • Crimson Shreddertank - PvE oriented mount, you need to obtain 2000 Rating in Mythic+, also known as the Keystone Master, to get this mount. Mainly completing your keys with an average of +7s. Like all the previous KSM mounts, this one is limited to only this season.

  • Enterprising Shreddertank - First time in Wow, there is another mount tied to your Mythic+ Progression, this one is a bit more challenging as you’re required to hit 3000 Rating or an achievement known as The Keystone Legend. Same as the previous one, this one is limited to only this season, so get them before the FOMO hits. We can also help you with that!

There were also mounts added to the Timewalking pools, increasing the never-ending adventures in our old expansions and giving players more things to spend Timewarped Badges on. Each mount costs exactly 5000 Timewarped Coins, same like all the previously added ones! Here’s the list of the mounts you can get from vendors across Azeroth.

  • Reins of the Frayfeather Hypogryph (Vendor: Bobadormu)
  • Reins of the Amani Hunting Bear (Vendor: Cupri)
  • Enchanted Spellweave Carpet (Vendor: Auzin)
  • Broodling of Sinestra (Vendor: Kiatke)
  • Cooper-Maned Quilen Reins (Vendor: Mistweaver Xia)
  • Nightfall’s Skyreaver’s Reins (Vendor: Kronnus/Tempra)
  • Ur’zul Fleshripper Bridle (Vendor: Aridormi)

There’s one more mount tied to Timewalking, however, to obtain it, you need to complete the achievement Master of the Turbulent Timeways II - The mount you will be granted is Timely Buzzbee!

Unobtainable Mounts or Mounts that might return

Like all the previous expansions, FOMO is no different in TWW, and some mounts are not obtainable anymore; however, even if it’s not explicitly stated, some mounts tend to come back in the Trading Post. Here’s the list of the mounts that are currently not available to get.

  • Diamond Mechsuit - Keystone Master Season 1
  • Forged Gladiator’s Felbat - Gladiator Season 1
  • Delver’s Dirigible Schematic (Void) - Customization option for the Delver’s Dirigible mount, this was obtained from Zekvir “??” in Season 1

The following mounts were part of either the event or the Trading Post, and there is a solid chance that some of them might make a comeback in the future in the same place they originally were available.

  • Savage Alabaster Battle Turtle - Trading Post
  • Silvermoon Sweeper - Trading Post
  • Hand of Reshgikaal - Trading Post
  • Keg’s Leg Radiant Crocolisk - Trading Post
  • Plunderlord’s Golden Crocolisk - Trading Post (Previously part of Plunderstorm Renown reward)
  • Plunderlord’s Midnight Crocolisk - Trading Post (Previously part of Plunderstorm for 5000 Plunder)
  • Plunderlord’s Weathered Crocolisk - Trading Post
  • Hooktalon - Event: Plunderstorm for 5000 Plunder currency

Conclusion

Mounts are always one of the most talked-about topics in World of Warcraft, and hopefully, this guide will be helpful for you to obtain some fun and magnificent mounts.     There’s plenty of variety from Mech mounts to some cool animal mounts that will surely make your journey in Khaz Algar more enjoyable. Even those that are a bit harder to obtain can be reached. We can help you get some of these mounts in no time. With a lot of our coaching plans and services, you can achieve your dream mount as quickly as possible!
