Introduction

Picking the best and tank that provides the most utility and sustain is important, as the group is always in need of strong tanks in the Raid environment. There are a few pretty good tanks, and those that are undisputed and perform above the rest, meaning that there is room for a lot of different ones to try in this season. We’re going to go through each one of them and rank them in the respective tier accordingly to their overall performance in this season.

Tier List

Ranking in the given tier will matter when deciding which tank is better in that same tier.

S-Tier

This is the strongest and a tier where tanks perform the best, overall only two tanks this season fit this criteria, through their strong HP/S and overall sustain, with good AoE and good utility on top of it, while one is less tanky, it has better mobility (DH), but enough healing to be as strong as the other. Death Knight is the one that has the least utility; it compensates with a strong overall sustain and tankiness, to make him also share this tier with Demon Hunter.

  • Blood Death Knight (San’layn)
  • Vengeance Demon Hunter (Fel Scarred)

A-Tier

The second tier in this ranking is also one that performs quite well and can clean the majority of all the hardest bosses with no issues, but is a bit overshadowed by the overall performances of San’layn DK and Fel Scarred DH. They, however, can still be pretty good teammates and strong leaders in the groups where they’re needed, as they bring lots of Sustain and good overall performance to any group.

  • Protection Paladin (Templar)
  • Protection Warrior (Colossus)
  • Brewmaster Monk (Shado-pan)
  • Vengeance Demon Hunter (Aldrachi Reaver)
  • Guardian Druid (Druid of the Claw)

B-Tier

We come to the 3rd tier in this one, and since we already have listed pretty much all the classes and specs that can work and be relatively good in any raid, these sadly don’t perform as good, they have way higher ceiling that you need to reach for you to be on the similar levels as the upper ones, but yet will mostly fall short on majority of the bosses. The majority of the classes perform better with the upper hero talents, but you can still give it a go to ones here, but overall they don’t perform as good as expected.

  • Blood Death Knight (Deathbringer)
  • Guardian Druid (Elune’s Chosen)
  • Protection Warrior (Moutain Thane)
  • Protection Paladin (Lightsmith)
  • Brewmaster Monk (Master of Harmony)

Final Thoughts

With that, the list is concluded and we have ranked all the tanks accordingly to their overall performances in the Liberation of Undermine. Blood DK (San’layn) and Vengeance DH (Fel-scarred) are undisputed in this tier list as they’re overall the strongest and bring a lot of stability to the team comp by just existing, due to their overall healing and tankiness (Or in case of DH, mobility). A-Rank ones are overall good as well, performing close to the ones in S-Tier, but slightly overshadowed due to the strength DK and DH bring to the table. B-Tiers are not as strong, as their secondary hero talents bring overall more to the table and perform significantly better, so you should be better of trying those hero talents, however if you prefer and like the hero talents that are in the B-Tier, they can of course work, just needs a bit learning and getting used to their vulnerabilities.
