Introduction
Tanks are one of the most important components to any group in World of Warcraft. Mythic+ Bracket is not any different from anything else, and a good tank can make the life of the healer, but also the whole group way easier, so knowing the strongest and best-performing tanks in the game at the moment is an important thing to know. Each tank needs to have some relevant damage (Of course, this is not the most important factor), so that they can keep all the mobs in the packs in check and, of course, survive any of those big pulls. The most important factors are their HP/S, so let us go through each spec and Hero Talent combination for our tanky and beefy friends!
Tier List
Ranking from the first to the last in each tier is relevant to the strength and performance of each spec and hero talent combination.
S-Tier
This is the strongest and most relevant tier. Unlike DPS, there are far fewer options to end up in this tier. In case of this current season, that’s only one spec and talent combination. It outperforms every single spec and is simply the sole holder of the highest Apex tier as the strongest spec. It does pretty good damage and has an incredible sustain, not struggling with any bigger packs, and has enough utility and kitting potential that it's simply the best in the game at the moment, and it has no contention for it whatsoever. Simply put, it can comfortably clear any higher key, even above +15, without any issues, and will remain the lone king of the tanks, at least in the Mythic+ bracket.
- Vengeance Demon Hunter (Aldrachi Reaver)
A-Tier
This tier is still fairly strong and is not struggling with anything. Only reason why Vengeance Demon Hunter (Aldrachi Reaver) is alone is just that it outperform everyone else by a mile, but this doesn’t mean that these specs are any less relevant, on the contrary, they’re very strong for each dungeon and can clear them comfortably, providing good AoE damage and sustain. Simply, the DH (Aldrachi Reaver) is a tier of its own, but this doesn’t make these any less relevant.
- Protection Paladin (Templar)
- Guardian Druid (Elune’s Chosen)
- Protection Warrior (Colossus)
- Blood Death Knight (San’layn)
- Vengeance Demon Hunter (Fel-scarred)
B-Tier
This is a tier that still holds relevance to the Mythic+ bracket, but will struggle a bit more than any other spec in higher keys, especially +15 and above ones. They can still do some damage and survive, but they will struggle on stronger and bigger packs, so taking it a bit slower is the best strategy on these specs, even for the keys in the +10 - 15 range.
- Brewmaster Monk (Shadopan)
- Brewmaster Monk (Master of Harmony)
- Blood Death Knight (Deathbringer)
C-Tier
This is a tier that is here to just exist; these specs + hero talents are not in any above tiers and are not relevant whatsoever. But worry not, these specs are both in the A-Tier, so changing to a different hero talent will make both relevant, and not just that, but fairly strong ones. These specs do exactly what their A-Tier counterparts do, but way weaker, and it’s not worth going for their respective Hero Talents as they’re not going to be relevant, and you might struggle with anything above +10 difficulty.
- Protection Paladin (Lightsmith)
- Protection Warrior (Mountain Thane)
Final Thoughts
So this concludes our Tank M+ Tier List. Honestly, all specs are relevant this season, and they can perform well, some more, some less, but every spec can get the job done with the correct Hero Tree. Vengeance Demon Hunter (Aldrachi Reaver) proves to be the undisputed GOAT of all tanks for Mythic+ - High Damage, Incredible Sustain, and the best mobility of all specs, cementing it as the king of the tanks. However pretty much all specs are REALLY strong, the only exception would probably be Brewmaster Monk, but even that one is relevant in the runs and can get the job done, it is just the weakest tank. This doesn’t mean it is unplayable and you should avoid it, there is a big variety with tanks, and you can freely try any class you want!
