K’aresh is the brand-new outdoor zone added in Patch 11.2: Ghosts of K’aresh. While not the largest area Blizzard has ever added, it’s packed with secrets: rare spawns, hidden treasures, lore books, toys, battle pets, and cosmetic transmogs.
This guide covers all K’aresh treasures and rares in Patch 11.2, their locations, unique rewards, and tips to make farming smoother.
About K’aresh Rares in Patch 11.2
There are 20+ rare spawns across K’aresh. They’re split into two categories:
- Normal Rares: can be found without Phase Diving.
- Phase Diving Rares: only visible when you’re phased using Reshii Wraps.
Each rare can be killed once per day for loot. Rewards include Valorstones, gear, toys, pets, and cosmetics. Killing them all grants the achievement Remnants of a Shattered World.
Normal Rares
These rares are accessible in the "base" version of K’aresh without needing Reshii Wraps progression. They’re usually easier than Phase Diving rares but still worth farming daily for cosmetics and currency.
- Chowdar (77.0, 74.9)
A wandering hozen with a love for ribbons. Patrols the southwestern edge of Tazavesh. He’s not especially dangerous, but the tight patrol route means you can miss him if you’re not watching. Drops Chowdar’s Favorite Ribbon. - Arcana-Monger So’zer (34.7, 36.1)
Found on the top floor of a Tazavesh building, but he won’t appear on his own. You’ll need an Arcane Lure, a consumable tied to his weekly warrant quest. Once summoned, he drops extra arcane-themed loot, including high-value cloth and fragments. - Grubber (71.1, 56.9)
A rare worm spawn that requires a Grubber Lure to be summoned. This one spawns out of the dirt near the eastern edge of Tazavesh. Grubber is easy to kill but on a longer reset, so if you’re farming, bring friends to rotate summons. - Heka’tamos (75.4, 30.4)
To summon him, you need to collect four elemental buffs (wind, fire, earth, water) from plants scattered around the Oasis. Once you’ve gathered them all, the Brazier of Elemental Union becomes interactable, spawning the rare. Drops include Heka’Tarnos, Bringer of Discord (cosmetic weapon). - Malek’ta (53.8, 59.2)
Found near Hosaas’ Rest. Walk the sands until you gain the “Noticing You” buff from swirling sand. Once active, jump around to trigger his appearance. A nice little hidden mechanic fight. Loot includes Palek’ti, the Mouth of Nothingness cosmetic staff.
Phase Diving Rares
These rares are only visible while Phase Diving with the Reshii Wraps cloak. They’re harder and drop some of the most valuable collectibles in Patch 11.2.
- Ixthar the Unblinking (63.8, 44.3)
Patrols the Tempest Fields. Classified as a Rare-Elite, Ixthar has heavy-hitting shadow abilities and punishes solo players. Best taken in groups. - Korgorath the Ravager (66.0, 43.5)
Patrols the same field as Ixthar, often spawning nearby. A dangerous pairing if both are active. Korgorath can dismount you, so be careful if flying low. - Maw of the Sands (54.4, 54.4)
Lurks beneath a massive rock formation west of Eco-Dome Primus. This is another Rare-Elite with AoE knockbacks, so positioning matters. - Sthaarbs (73.8, 32.9 / portal 75.8, 32.8)
Probably the most unique rare in K’aresh. You fight him on floating platforms around the Oasis. He casts Repulsive Gaze, forcing you to jump between platforms using swirling void portals, fail, and you’re thrown into the void. Drops the toy Sthaarbs’s Last Lunch. - Stalker of the Wastes (76.7, 42.2)
A stealthy predator roaming the Merciless Wastes. Solo players beware: its ambush can one-shot if you’re unprepared. - Urmag (70.2, 49.9)
A stationary rare, but one of the most farmed. Drops the Pearlescent Krolusk mount, a shimmering beetle mount tied directly to K’aresh’s theme. Expect this to be camped for weeks. - Sha’ryth the Cursed (73.5, 55.1)
Patrols high up near the ruins of Eco-Dome Rhovan. - Prototype Mk-V (46.0, 24.2)
A broker war machine patrolling Shadow Point. - The Nightreaver (51.8, 58.6)
Patrols around Eco-Dome Primus. This massive rare drops Duskthief, a shadowy pet.
About K’aresh Treasures in Patch 11.2
K’aresh isn’t just about rares, the zone is absolutely packed with hidden treasures. In total there are 29 unique treasures, split between the normal outdoor phase and the Phase Diving layer. Finding them all awards the achievement Treasures of K’aresh, and many of them come with toys, pets, or cosmetic weapons you won’t want to miss.
Normal Treasures
These can be collected without Reshii Wraps progression. Most are hidden in clever spots or tied to small puzzles:
- Ancient Coffer
This is a multi-step puzzle chest. First, loot the Battered Journal from a broken caravan north of Lunnall River. Then pick up the Submerged Bottle at the Oasis waterfalls. Only after that can you open the Ancient Coffer itself at the ruined Castigaar tower. The effort pays off with the Mr. Long-Legs battle pet. - Gift of the Brothers (76.0, 45.2)
Click a lantern to gain the Flickering Lantern buff, which reveals three hidden spirits: M’alim, Naji, and Sahra, scattered across the zone. Once you’ve found all of them and returned to Ihya, you unlock the treasure and receive The Brothers’ Final Gift, a cosmetic weapon appearance. - Forlorn Wind Chimes (69.7, 52.3)
Easy to miss, they dangle from a fallen tree near Eco-Dome Rhovan. Looting them gives you Reshii Crystal Fragments, a material used in zone crafting. - Mailroom Distribution (47.8, 62.5, Tazavesh)
Probably the most fun treasure. Interact with the overflowing mail outside the P.O.S.T. to get a buff, then carry packages inside and deliver them to glowing swirls on the floor. Completing all four spawns the chest, which rewards the P.O.S.T. Master’s Hearthstone toy. - Crudely Stitched Sack (58.6, 34.3)
Found on a tiny floating island north of Shan’dorah. Inside you’ll find the Tazavesh Lookout’s Mace, a quirky cosmetic weapon. - Wastelander Stash (60.5, 42.1)
Hidden in a small cavern in Castigaar. The chest contains the Well-Preserved Wrappings, a unique cosmetic back item. - Shattered Crystals (75.0, 55.3)
A pile of jagged shards located high up on a cliff in the North Sufaad region. Opening them yields more Reshii Crystal Fragments. - Skeletal Tail Bones (77.7, 27.9)
A treasure wedged under a rock formation near the Oasis. Inside waits Ixthal the Observling, a void-touched battle pet.
Phase Diving Treasures
These require a higher rank of Reshii Wraps and Phase Diving active. They’re more challenging to reach but hold some of the most desirable cosmetics in Patch 11.2.
- Ethereal Voidforged Container (52.0, 68.4)
Located atop a broken wall in the Ruins of Yaathron. You’ll need to complete a small jumping puzzle across unstable void platforms.
Loot: Buckler of the Last Stand / Shattered Buckler of the Last Stand (shield).
Bonus: Grants the achievement Jump, Jump, and Away! when looted. - Tulwar of the Golden Guard (51.0, 65.1)
Resting on a ruined caravan north of Yaathron. A golden sword appearance, easily one of the most stylish weapon transmogs of this patch.
Loot: Tulwar of the Golden Guard / Tulwar of the Pyrite Guard (sword).
Bonus: Counts toward the We’ve All Got Swords! achievement. - Bladed Rifle of Unfettered Momentum (70.0, 70.9)
Perched on a floating island northeast of Tazavesh. To reach it, you’ll need a Goblin Glider Kit or the Untethered Xy’bucha buff.
Loot: Bladed Rifle of Unfettered Momentum / Rifle of Leaden Movement (rifle). - Spear of Fallen Memories (23.7, 46.8 – Tazavesh)
Found in the graveyard outside Tazavesh. Best accessed by slow fall or gliding from nearby cliffs.
Loot: Spear of Fallen Memories / Spear of Forgotten Memories (spear). - Light-Soaked Cleaver (52.4, 46.6)
Placed on a weapon rack inside the Serrated Peaks camp.
Loot: Light-Soaked Cleaver / Light-Dimmed Cleaver (axe). - Efrat’s Forgotten Bulwark (78.0, 48.9)
Hidden under a bridge in North Sufaad.
Loot: Efrat’s Forgotten Bulwark / Efrat’s Totally Abandoned Bulwark (shield). - Warglaive of the Audacious Hunter (56.8, 24.1)
Tucked away deep inside the Voidscar Cavern. Expect to clear a couple of elites before claiming it.
Loot: Warglaive of the Audacious Hunter / Warglaive of the Subdued Tracker (warglaive). - Phaseblade of the Void Marches (50.8, 35.3)
Located on the lower ledges of Overlook Zo’Shuul.
Loot: Phaseblade of the Void Marches / Blade of the Void Swamp (sword).
Bonus: Part of the We’ve All Got Swords! achievement. - Sufaadi Skiff Lantern (80.7, 52.6)
Hanging from the side of a Broker ship in North Sufaad. Reach it via a precise jump or with a glider.
Loot: Sufaadi Skiff Lantern / Sufaadi Skiff Candle (toy/cosmetic lantern). - Petrified Branch of Janaa (78.3, 61.5)
On a floating island south of North Sufaad. Requires gliding or the Untethered Xy’bucha buff.
Loot: Petrified Branch of Janaa / Petrified Twig of the Fennad (staff). - Shadowguard Crusher (49.1, 18.0)
Located inside the Torment Manaforge in Shadow Point.
Loot: Shadowguard Crusher / Shadowguard Bonker (mace). - Korgorath’s Talon (64.4, 42.7)
Embedded in the ground in the Tempest Fields, close to the patrol path of Ixthar the Unblinking.
Loot: Korgorath’s Talon / Korgorath’s Broken Nail (dagger). - P.O.S.T. Master’s Prototype Parcel and Postage Presser (47.4, 69.8 – Tazavesh)
Inside the Tazavesh mailroom during Phase Diving.
Loot: P.O.S.T. Master’s Prototype Parcel and Postage Presser / P.O.S.T. Employee’s Backup Stamp (toy + cosmetic).
Final Thoughts
And unlike many past zones, K’aresh doesn’t reward speed, but rather patience. If you try to rush it, you’ll miss the lanterns, the buffs, the clues tucked into caves and ruins. The most satisfying finds come when you slow down and actually let yourself explore the zone. And honestly, it’s interesting, finally getting to explore a new zone in Season 3.
