In WoW The War Within, Skyriding Glyphs are special collectibles floating high above the lands of Khaz Algar and K’aresh. Collecting them all unlocks the Khaz Algar Glyph Hunter achievement, and more importantly, rewards you with the Swarmite Skyhunter, a new mount exclusive to this expansion.
Unlike in Dragonflight, these glyphs aren’t tied to mechanical progression like unlocking Skyriding talents. Instead, they’re purely about exploration and scoring that unique mount. And yes, there’s also a separate achievement for the K’aresh glyphs (K’aresh Glyph Hunter).
The challenge involves navigating through various obstacles such as glyphs above cliffs, near mobs, and requiring precise flying control. With a well-planned route and appropriate addons, it is possible to collect all the glyphs in approximately 1.5 hours.
How Skyriding Glyphs Work in The War Within
In Season 3 The War Within, they no longer unlock talents. Instead, they award achievements and, in the case of Khaz Algar, grant a unique mount.
Approach a glyph while mounted (with Skyriding enabled) and simply “tag” it by flying directly through it. A sound effect and animation will confirm it’s been collected.
Once gathered, a glyph stays unlocked for that character forever.
Achievements: Each zone has its own "Glyph Hunter" achievement, plus Khaz Algar contributes to overall progress toward the mount reward. Even if you don’t care about the mount, glyph hunting is a great way to explore hidden corners of the world, many are tucked away in places you’d never visit during regular questing.

Skyriding Glyphs Reward
Once you’ve collected every single glyph, you’ll earn an achievement, and that achievement will reward you with the Swarmite Skyhunter mount that looks like a spider.
“Typically found in the smallest nooks and crannies of rock ceilings, the swarmite skyhunter is more at home in the air than at rest.”
Best Route to Skyriding Glyphs
While you can simply follow the location list zone by zone, an optimized route will save you hours of flying.
Recommended zone order (minimizes flight time):
- Isle of Dorn – Starting zone with easy navigation and many glyphs in open air.
- The Ringing Deeps – Move south to collect underground glyphs while nearby.
- Hallowfall – Bright, open zone where glyphs are quick to grab.
- Azj-Kahet – The trickiest zone due to vertical layouts; do it once you’re warmed up.
- K’aresh – Compact but maneuver-heavy, perfect as the final cleanup zone.
Addons for Glyph Hunting
- TomTom: set waypoints with /way commands.
- Macro Toolkit: create macros for sequential waypoints.
- Paste: batch load coordinates into TomTom.
Example TomTom Macro:
/way 78.2 42.7 Isle of Dorn - Cinderbrew Meadery
/way 44.4 79.8 Isle of Dorn - Dhar Durgaz
Final Thoughts
And honestly, you could call it an enjoyable activity, a chance to reflect and explore a new zone, with the goal of earning a mount adding that extra spark of motivation, if it’s something you truly want.
So don’t overthink it. Pick a route, grab some addons, and just go. Before you know it, you’ll be cruising on your new mount, remembering every crazy little spot you had to reach to make it yours.
