Introduction

Warrior is one of the oldest classes that we know from RPGs, and in WoW it’s not any different, till today, Warrior is one of the most popular and easiest classes. Though even if it’s easy to start, unlike some other classes and specs, it still has a solid skill expression where you can utilize your character to the maximum, and knowing these things will help you shine in both Mythic+ and Raids, but also will give you help in PvP. On top of providing this guide, we can additionally help you through our interesting and unique coaching plans.

Fury Warrior Overview

Personally, the coolest thing about this spec is that you can wear two-handed weapons, which helps the fantasy of the class and your character come to the top. Overall, it also comes with extra stats that you obtain from the second weapon, bonus stamina and strength, alongside secondary stats such as Haste and Mastery, which makes it feel like a rewarding thing. Not to mention that you can also use two different enchants (or the same ones, which additionally can increase the power of the Fury Warrior. With its solid damage, it comes with sustain that’s not something to ignore. Every plate class is tankier than cloth, mail, or leather classes, so it applies to warriors as well, on top of solid sustain abilities that you can use to survive, and some emergency buttons that can elevate your character a step above. The whole gameplay loop is to keep the uptime of your enrage and make sure that it is up once you’re using your burst cooldowns, such as Avatar or Ravager, to maximize the output on the packs.

Strengths

  • Warrior as a Fury Spec can provide you with fast-paced combat, giving you an adrenaline rush as you constantly have something to press. It is a very proactive class and provides one of the most interesting and fun experiences in the game.
  • There are plenty of CC abilities, including a kick on a 15s cooldown, so you can also provide a solid amount of utility for the party. Your ability Rallying Cry gives your party a 15 % Max HP increase and adds 15 % of HP instantly to your party for a short duration. It’s not a big cooldown of only 3 minutes, providing a very useful ability that can help your team in some rough Heal checks and make sure you survive harder phases.
  • Provides a high mobility as it is one of the most proactive specs that allows you to easily move from one edge of the room to the other. So, usually it’s not that hard to dodge some mechanics that occupy the majority of the room, so you don’t have to worry about positioning in such cases, as you can just Charge back to the boss or use Heroic Leap.
  • Having massive cooldowns for AoE bursts, providing an efficient and big damage on packs due to many cooldowns that give high DPS abilities.
  • Provides a buffing ability - Battle Shout that gives every single player in the range after using it 5 % Attack Power for 1 hour.

Weaknesses

  • Provides a low single damage output. Despite a huge AoE burst, the class usually doesn’t have good DPS outside those cooldowns, so it is heavily dependent on Avatar, Recklessness, and such abilities.
  • Doesn’t have a big build variety, so the spec is usually limited to one build per season.
  • Doesn’t have a Heroism/Bloodlust or a CR. Other than Rallying Cry and Battle Shout, where the latter is usually for the strength or agility classes only, there is not much utility in that department for the team. It can affect how often you can find a group.
  • Despite its big AoE CDs, the spec can fall behind some other classes when there are more than 8 Mobs due to damage limitations on targets once there are more than 8 of them. So even if the damage is good on AoE Bursts, it falls behind as soon as that target capped is reached and falls behind some other classes, such as Druid or Mage.

Fury Warrior Rotation

Rotation is the most important thing to do correctly on each spec. Fury Warrior usually has big cooldowns, and you need to closely watch and monitor when these cooldowns are up to be ready for any big packs. As mentioned previously, you have to keep up with your enrage, and it is constantly active as it provides you with a % damage burst that’s identical to your total mastery, so it is an important status effect on you. Your strongest ability is Rampage, which always generates the Enrage effect once you use it, so it is important to always be ready to use this ability due to its big damage on top of providing your most important status effect. Another important and big thing is to maintain that you have cooldowns ready once you’re on bigger pulls, meaning that you have your Avatar and Recklessness ready to use together with abilities such as Ravager, Bladestorm, or Odyn’s Fury to fully maximize the damage potential of your spec.

The general rotation is the following:

  • Bloodthirst as Opener to instantly generates Enrage once you hit target for the first time with it > Using all available abilities Raging Blow/Bloodthirst/Thunderclap till you have enough to obtain Rampage > Rampage > Using other abilities to generate Rampage once again, while also using Bloodthrist every time its up as it has 15 % chance to grant you or reset your duration of Enrage
  • Important to watch closely the cooldowns of your big CDs to make sure to use them together while you’re enraged, so it is important to start combat with Bloodthirst, so your abilities that have big cooldowns can have maximum damage.
  • Make sure to use Whirlwind/Thunderclap, as it enables you to deal damage to additional targets. It is your most important AoE ability, as it gives your next 4 abilities AoE capabilities, so rotating it properly in between, if required, is important. However, if you’re running Mountain Thane, make sure to use Thunderclap also as a normal ability, not just a filler to open up to AoE damage.

Best in slot gear

Finding the best gear and knowing what stats to focus on and equip is the most important thing for each spec. Fury Warrior is no different from anyone else, so we’ll run through the items you need to focus on to utilize and maximize what your spec can do in all sorts of content.

Best stats for Fury Warrior (Stat Prio)

The most important stat for a Fury is Strength, as each class and spec always benefits the most from its main stat, so does the Warrior. You should always focus on getting as much Strength as possible over any other secondary stat, however, it is important to note that you need to reach the right amount of secondary stat that is BIS for you to have that crisp and satisfactory factor to your gameplay. The most useful secondary stats for Fury Warrior are the following:

  • Haste (Provides faster combat and lets you execute your rotations faster. It is one of the best secondary stats, as it makes your already fast gameplay quicker, and getting shorter windows for your Rampage keeps you Enraged more often)
  • Mastery (It is another big one, as it gives you raw damage increase to your enrage, meaning that as much Mastery you have, that’s the exact % increase that Enrage will also have, providing a solid damage increase if you do have the right stats)
  • Critical Strike (Even if it is not as useful as Mastery or Haste, it’s always nice to have more Crit Rate, as you can make your big CDs hit even harder)
  • Versatility (It is not as good as the other ones, it provides damage and healing increase. However, due to its slow scaling and requiring lots of raw mastery to give any significant increase, it is just not worth focusing on this stat)

Best gear for Fury Warrior

Like every class, Fury Warrior is no stranger to good gear, and it is always a top priority to get the best in slots wherever you can. Sometimes it’s harder, of course, but we’ll run through the best available gear that you can get and also some of the replacement trinkets you can use, as it is sometimes really hard to always have every single BIS on the list at any given time.

Best Trinkets

The following trinkets are considered the most efficient for Fury Warriors to bring their spec to the top level of its potential. We’ll go first through the best Single Target/Raiding trinkets.

  • Eye of Kezan (Drop: Chrome King Gallywix - Liberation of Undermine)
  • Mechano Core Amplifier (Drop: Delves)
  • House of Cards (Drop: One-Armed Bandit - Liberation of Undermine)
  • Improvised Seaforium Pacemaker (Drop: Keeza Quickfuse - Floodgate)
  • Reverb Radio (Drop: Rik Reverb - Liberation of Undermine)

There are also plenty of good trinkets that are used for Mythic+, and despite that, there are some of the single-target ones that can work in Mythic+ as well. There are some other options as well

Eye of Kezan, Mechano-Core Amplifier, and House of Cards are also pretty good for Mythic+ as well as Raiding trinkets, making them one of the true BIS for Fury Warriors

  • Ravenous Honey Buzzer (Drop: Benk Buzzbee - Cinderbrew Meadery)
  • Geargrinder’s Spare Keys (Drop: The Geargrinder - Liberation of Undermine)

Best Cyrene Circlet’s Gems

The ring we got from 11.0.5 from Siren Isles remains the best-performing Ring for many classes and specs. This also includes our fellow Dual Weapon wielder, who also uses it to its full extent. Here are some of the best gems that you can apply to your ring.

  • Fathomdweller’s Runed Citrine (Raiding/Mythic+)
  • Strombringer’s Runed Citrine (Raiding/Mythic+)
  • Windsinger’s Runed Citrine (Raiding)
  • Legendary’s Skipper Citrine (Mythic+)

Making sure that you get these Citrines is your top priority, as they’re pretty big and important. They’re also not as hard to get, so make sure to get them as quickly as possible.

Best Enchants

Making your character just a tiny bit stronger after getting all BIS gear is really huge. So the following enchants will elevate your character to its full potential once you've got everything prepared!

  • Greater Rune of the Void Ritual (Raiding/Mythic+)
  • Magnificent Jeweler's Setting (adds up to 2 sockets to a Ring or Necklace)
  • Enchant Weapon - Authority of the Depths (single target)
  • Enchant Weapon - Oathsworn's Tenacity (multitarget)
  • Enchant Cloak - Chant of Winged Grace
  • Enchant Chest - Crystalline Radiance
  • Enchant Bracer - Chant of Armored Avoidance
  • Defender's Armor Kit
  • Enchant Boots - Defender's March
  • Enchant Ring - Radiant Mastery
  • Enchant Ring - Radiant Haste
  • Magnificent Jeweler's (adds up to 2 sockets to a Ring or Necklace)

Final Thoughts

Even though Fury is not performing as it used to in previous patches or expansions, it is still an insanely fun spec. Getting your Tier Set will help you get a bit more damage and will make it a bit more relevant than without it. Trying to get all the BIS items, enchants, and gems will make everything far easier and make it relevant in the endgame content despite not being on top of the tier-lists.
