The climax of the ultimate raid gauntlet in the Monument of Triumph update culminates in an epic showdown against a legendary threat from Destiny 2’s history: Insurrection Prime, Kell’s Scourge.
Serving as the 7th and final encounter of the grueling Insurrection Prime Revolutionary gauntlet node, this massive Eliksni mecha brings mechanics from the vaulted Scourge of the Past raid into the modern sandbox.
Team Roles & Setup
Success against Insurrection Prime requires your fireteam of six to divide responsibilities immediately.
The Map Reader (1 Player): Stays at the main spawn building to view a holographic radar map. This player is the team's quarterback—responsible for locating targets and guiding runners.
The Sniper/Shield Breakers (2 Players): Position themselves on high rooftops. They clear out persistent Vex/Fallen snipers and shoot the glowing weak points on the boss.
The Battery Runners (3 Players): Highly mobile players who actively hunt down aggressive mini-bosses, retrieve their batteries, and dunk them into generators.
Phase 1: Breaking the Shield
Before you can directly damage Insurrection Prime, you must force it to lower its shields. This is achieved by generating heavy Drake Tanks.
1. Establish the Holographic Map: Encounter Start
Kill the initial Berserker mini-boss that spawns near the front of the arena. It drops a radiant battery. Have the designated Map Reader grab this battery and slam it into the central terminal in the spawn building to boot up the tactical map.
2. Locate the Target: Map Reader Duty
The map reader must look at the holographic display. Active Berserkers will appear as flashing red icons. The Map Reader calls out the location of the next Berserker to the runners.
3. Defeat the Berserker: Runners Team
Two runners must converge on the Berserker. To break its shield, one player must melee it from the front while the other melees its glowing weak spot from the back simultaneously. Kill it to drop two new batteries.
4. Guide and Dunk: Coordination Phase
The map reader looks back at the map. The player who picks up a battery will have green icons appear above their indicator on the map. The map reader tells the runner exactly how many dots/symbols are above their name, corresponding to which generator terminal needs to be dunked.
The Ionized Debuff: Depositing a battery inflicts you with the Ionized debuff, preventing you from holding another battery for several minutes. Because of this, the 3 Battery Runners must continuously cycle and swap responsibilities.
Phase 2: The CAP Synergy (DPS Phase)
Once enough batteries are successfully deposited, a heavy Drake Tank will spawn. Someone must pilot the tank and fire directly at the boss to shatter its shield, exposing a massive glowing Servitor core in its chest. DPS begins immediately.
To damage the boss effectively without wiping your team, you must master the Phase Radiance mechanic, commonly abbreviated by the community as CAP:
| Buff Name | Geometric Shape | Visual Color |
| Continuous | Circle | Yellow / Red Glow |
| Angular | Triangle | Blue Glow |
| Parallel | Square | White Glow |
The CAP Rule of Engagement
Upon breaking the boss's shield, every member of the fireteam is randomly assigned one of these three buffs.
The Positive Effect: Standing directly next to players who share your exact same shape grants a massive multiplier to your weapon damage.
The Fatal Effect: Standing next to a player with a different shape creates a lethal tether that ticks massive damage against both players.
Recommended DPS Positioning
To avoid cross-contamination, assign three distinct positions around the arena before starting the encounter.
Whenever the boss shifts or activates an EMP blast, the shapes will randomize. Listen closely to your screen, look at the bottom-left text feed, and instantly migrate to your designated area if your shape changes. Utilize high-burst precision weapons to hit the exposed central Servitor core.
Securing a Platinum High Score
Securing a Platinum score and beating the bonus timer on Insurrection Prime in the Insurrection Prime Revolutionary gauntlet comes down to one clear objective: You must achieve a comfortable 1-phase kill.
Because the encounter heavily penalizes your time score if you have to run a second round of battery dunking and underground shape collecting, executing the phase mechanics and maximizing your damage windows is vital.
Speed Up the Setup Phase (Sub-2 Minutes)
To give yourself the maximum amount of time for DPS, your team must optimize the initial shield-breaking steps.
Pre-assign Underground Terminals: Do not wait until players go underground to figure out who is doing what. Assign three players specifically to C (Continuous), A (Angular), and P (Parallel) before launching. They should dive down immediately, melee their respective consoles, and be ready to leave.
The Sniper Multi-task: The two rooftop snipers must split their focus. One should immediately find and melt the surface Servitor to break the underground barrier, while the other begins popping Insurrection Prime's glowing body weak points to prep the shield break.
Zero Battery Downtime: As soon as a Berserker drops its two batteries, the runners must pick them up instantly. The Map Reader needs to call out the destination terminal numbers (e.g., "Runner 1 to console 2, Runner 2 to console 3") before the runners even arrive at the batteries.
Execute the Perfect 1-Phase DPS
The standard CAP strategy works for survival, but a Platinum high score requires optimal damage alignment.
Optimal Positioning & The "No-Move" Strat
Instead of having the entire fireteam scramble around the arena every time the boss shifts shapes, the meta strategy is to form three tight triangles in a static zone (usually near the spawn building or the central map area).
The Rule: When your shape changes, you do not look at the map; you look at your two adjacent partners. You only shift left or right within your local tight cluster to match your partners.
The Tank Driver Rule: The player driving the Drake tank should immediately abandon the vehicle the second the shield breaks to join their designated CAP zone. Every single weapon counts.
Weapon Meta for the Core
Because Insurrection Prime exposes a giant precision crit spot (the Servitor core), your loadout should maximize precision damage:
The Sniper Meta: Whispers of the Worm or high-impact Linear Fusion Rifles (like a Tier 5 upgraded Doom of Chelchis or Briar's Contempt) paired with Sniper Rifles in the special slot.
Subclass Setup: You need at least one Well of Radiance or a Titan placing a Ward of Dawn safely behind the damage groups to provide a baseline survivability buff, alongside a Hunter running Deadfall Tether or Tractor Cannon to keep the boss permanently debuffed.
The High Score Safety Net: "The Add-Clear Multiplier"
If your 1-phase leaves the boss with a sliver of health and you are forced into a very fast 2-phase, you can still secure a Platinum score by inflating your point total through Medals and Streaks.
Spawn Trap the Add Waves: Have one player with an ad-clear Super (like Stormtrance, Silkstrike, or Song of Flame) clear out the massive waves of Fallen dregs and vandals that spawn in the side lanes during the battery phase.
Generate Orbs: Chain supers together during the add-clear phase. Generating massive amounts of Orbs of Power grants team-wide score bonuses that can push an otherwise "Gold" run into a "Platinum" bracket, even if you miss the bonus timer by a few seconds.
