Originally introduced all the way back in the Season of the Chosen, Gilded Seals are the pinnacle of achievement in Destiny 2; titles and colors and special Seal symbols which Guardians can use to commemorate their progress and prowess in clearing the toughest content in the game.

Generally speaking, each Seal, and moreover, its Gilded counterpart represent the true end game for any peice of content, where you complete a series of difficult challenges called Triumphs in order to progress each Seal's completion. The difference between a Standard and Gilded Seal is that the Standard Seal is generally easier to complete as it contains fewer, and easier Triumphs, and is necessary to unlock its Gilded version; meaining you'll have to have completed all the Triumphs necessary to earn the base version of a Seal before you can gild it.

Completing a Seal, both Standard and Gilded, grants a unique color for one's in-game Title, a new Title and a special Seal icon. Some Gilded Seals, such as the Gilded Conqueror Seal, require you to complete Triumphs in end-game content, in this case, Grandmaster Nightfalls. Beyond the default difficulty of Grandmaster, Master or Trials of Osiris, the added challenge of each Triumph you'd need to complete all make getting your hands on a Gilded Seal extremely challenging and time consuming.
