Touch of Malice is an exotic that was brought back with the King's Fall raid. It offers quite a unique playstyle as technically you're never supposed to reload it. In fact, the last bullet in the magazine always does heavily increased damage and also charges up a special taken shot. The charge shot allows for some unique combinations with the weapons of sorrow, such as Witherhoard, Osteo Striga, Thorn, and Necrochasm. Allowing them to deal more damage to blighted enemies. It also has one of the highest total damage amongst primary exotics, since if you stand in a well of radience, the self-damage inflicted by the last bullet can be nullified with ease.

Touch of Malice is certainly a PvE oriented weapon, due to it inflicting damage upon you as a trade off for heavily increased damage. Even though Touch of Malice doesn't see a lot of mainsteam use, you can still create an incredibly strong build that would focus on sustained healing with devour. Allowing you to mow through alot of mid-game and some of the end-game PvE content as well! For PvP it's a lot tougher to use it effectively since every bit of health you have there matters. But there have certainly been cases where people had found great success with some void warlock builds in dominating their foes at Crucible.

Touch of Malice does have a catalyst and it's certainly a nice boost to it. The Touch of Malice Catalyst  grants the weapon a new perk, specifically Rapid Hit. It can certainly feel a bit out of place, but the main benefit you gain from Rapid hit is actually the increase in stability!
