Introduction
Destiny 2 is getting a brand new mode. It’s been quite some time since something interesting like Pantheon dropped, and Bungie decided it is time to revisit a similar system. Essentially, Rite of Nine is fairly similar to Pantheon, but will feature dungeons this time, and we’ll get to experience something unique. It will be free-to-play for all players, even though it features dungeons from the Key Pass, so all players will get new free content that they can enjoy, which is a huge win for the community. The event will launch on May 6 and will last till the beginning of the brand new expansion that is codenamed Apollo. The end date of this timed event is still unknown, due to the expansion not being announced yet.
Destiny 2 Rite of the Nine Content
This new event will feature a unique experience of already known dungeons that we have played previously. Dungeons that we will have as part of the content update will be the following
Prophecy
Spire of the Watcher
Ghosts of the Deep
These dungeons will take a new form as part of Rite of the Nine, rotating every week with brand new challenges filled inside the dungeon. There will also be a brand new social space called Third Spire, where you will also be able to find a brand new vendor, Emissary of the Nine (Our old ally is ready to give us new shinies!)
This brand new activity will feature three difficulties in which players will experience all sorts of challenges, ready to claim the best loot and new unique rewards for a limited duration.
Destiny 2 Rite of the Nine Loot Pool
There will be plenty for people to earn from this interesting event. Mainly, 12 revisited weapons that players will be able to earn. These weapons will also feature an Adept version that you can obtain from the hardest mode called Ultimatum. On top of all things, these weapons will have an Origin Trait called Gravity Well, enabling you to loot all nearby ammo after you reload your weapon.
You will also have a way to attune for a specific weapon you want to get; this way, you will be focusing on that one weapon you’ve selected. You can do that in the Third Spire and focus on getting as many drops of the said weapon as you want. The weapons that you will be able to obtain are the following:
Prosecutor | Auto Rifle |
Relentless | Pulse Rifle |
Judgement | Hand Canon |
A Sudden Death | Shotgun |
Wilderflight | Grenade Launcher |
Long Arm | Scout Rifle |
Liminal Vigil | Sidearm |
Terminus Horizion | Machine Gun |
New Pacific Epitath Breach Loaded | Grenade Launcher |
No Survivors | Submachine Gun |
Greasy Luck | Glaive |
Cold Comfort | Rocket Launcher |
Regarding cosmetic rewards, you will be able to obtain a new Title/Seal providing a significant challenge and worth trying for, as well as five different emblems and a few weapon ornaments!
Destiny 2 Rite of the Nine Difficulties
As mentioned previously, there will be three difficulties in our new limited-time gamemode. These activities will go from a chill and relaxing way to experience this new content, to a challenging and very hard one. Players will be able to select which mode suits their playstyle, and there will be something for everyone to experience.
Explorer Mode
As the name states, this will be an entry-level difficulty, it’s a beginner's level challenge. Players will slowly take the content and breeze through it and experience how exactly the gamemode is played, without any significant challenge. There are a few rules that are in place with this one, and they’re the following:
- No Darkness Zone - Darkness Zones are fully disabled in this one, meaning that you can resurrect as much as you want and complete it at your own pace.
- Revive timer is only five seconds - Meaning that you don’t have to wait the usual 45 seconds to resurrect your fallen comrade.
- Tooltips - There will be a featured tooltip that explains exactly how the mechanic works.
- Helper Platforms - If you’re having issues with the notorious parkour mechanics, don’t worry, there will be some additional platforms that will appear to assist you, if required!
Eternity Mode
This is most likely going to be the usual “Normal” mode, featuring a challenge for casual players, something that is not too hard, but it’s not just a face-roll content that you can breeze through with no effort. So far, there is not much information regarding this difficulty, but it will most likely just be something that is the “Base” difficulty for people to experience, similar to Normal Dungeons and Raids, and get some challenge out of it, without it being too obnoxious. There will also be a scoring system added, similar to the other mods that have this feature, showing the exact progress or score that will be displayed at the end of the run.
Ultimatum Mode
This will be the most challenging one, providing a hard type of difficulty that you will have to play carefully and watch for any one-shots that might come your way. This will be most likely similar to the Master Dungeons and Raids, which are well-known for their heavy damage and hard DPS phases, proving to challenge the players to their limits.
- Contest Mode - The famous and most exciting part of Destiny 2 will be open with this game mode. Players will always be under 20 Power Levels, and the mobs will provide heavy damage for people to fight against. On top of it, there will be a limited amount of revives, so making sure to be extra careful will be the key component to achieving victory here.
- Notswap Modifier - This is a modifier that is similar to the PvP one. Changing your Exotic armor, weapon, or subclass will drain everything from you, starting with setting your super energy to zero and taking all energy from your abilities. Optimizing your build at the beginning of the encounter will be the key strategy that will give you a successful completion.
